Mount Airy Downtown, Inc. Presents the 4th Annual Public Art Guitar Crawl
The Guitar Crawl is a public art initiative presented by Mount Airy Downtown, Inc. After three successful years with fiddle and banjo sculptures, we are adding guitar sculptures to the collection. The Guitar Crawl will feature larger-than-life, three dimensional, fiberglass guitar sculptures painted, decorated, and embellished by local artists. We will also have smaller guitar sculptures on display at the Visitor Center in Downtown Mount Airy. On Friday, May 5th we will reveal the 2017 guitar sculptures with the kick-off celebration! Join us for a cocktail hour at Uncorked from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Enjoy bluegrass music and wine from the region. At 6:00 p.m. walk over to The Historic Earle Theatre for the reveal event – to be broadcasted LIVE by WPAQ 740 AM. Join as at the Earle for beautiful art, and more bluegrass music. Both events are open to the public and FREE. The guitar sculptures will be placed in key downtown locations for a six month public art exhibit, and auctioned off on November 4th at Old North State Winery to support funding for downtown economic development, as well as local artists. Grab a map at the Mount Airy Visitor’s Center to find all of the guitars, fiddles, and banjos! Vote for your favorite guitar at several downtown locations, and buy a $5 raffle ticket for a chance to win the raffle guitar!
